Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy mandates monthly revenue targets for departments to meet annual goals, emphasizing transparency and reforms.

Monthly Reviews and Revenue Generation

Telangana Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to set monthly revenue targets to achieve the annual goals for all revenue-generating departments. The CM will personally review the performance of these departments every month to ensure they are on track. As of June this year, the revenue performance has been unsatisfactory. Departments such as Excise, Commercial Taxes, Stamps and Registration, and Mining need to intensify their efforts. The CM emphasized the importance of plugging loopholes in GST collections to boost revenue.

Strategic Measures and Accountability

During a review meeting at the Secretariat, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers P. Srinivasa Reddy, and Jupalli Krishna Rao, along with top officials, the CM outlined several measures to enhance revenue. He stressed the need for transparency and integrity in tax collection and encouraged departments to implement reforms as needed. Officials were tasked with creating monthly target plans aligned with annual goals and regularly assessing progress. Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka will also conduct weekly reviews to ensure targets are met.

Focus on GST and Liquor Revenue

Increasing GST revenue is a priority, with Commercial Taxes officials instructed to conduct field audits. The CM highlighted the need for strict measures to prevent tax evasion and suggested revising taxes on aviation fuel to offset VAT losses from petrol and diesel sales. Despite high liquor sales during elections, revenue from this sector has not increased as expected. The CM called for action against illicit liquor sales and the use of technology to monitor distilleries.

Development Projects and Property Revenue

The meeting also addressed various development projects like the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail expansion, and Musi Riverfront development, which are boosting the realty sector in Hyderabad. The CM suggested enhancing revenue from property registrations and stamp duty, given the rise in land and property values. To increase income from sand and mineral resources, the CM ordered measures to stop illegal transportation and leaks. Officials were asked to study the impact of taxing electric vehicles after subsidy periods on vehicle sales.
